Set Up- The movie will open with a girl reading a newspaper article about a murder in rural Kansas. The title of the article is “Beautiful 18 year old Missing for 5 days - body found” There is a picture in the margin of the girl. She flips through the newspaper and then throws it down. Then the camera goes to mirror and there is a girl looking at herself in the mirror. It’s the same girl from the newspaper. She is fiddling with her outfit and hair. Twisting, examining her body. She then takes off her shirt switches to an oversized sweater and leaves her room. Walking down a hall you can see all the doors are similar except for the number and a few have pictures on them. She gets in an elevator and gets off a floor, enters a cafeteria with a sign that says Innocence Cafeteria.
Inciting Incident- After feeling left out in school and hating her senior year of high school Tailynn looks to herself to find the answers to her misery. She feels like her problems stem from within and that she doesn’t have friends due to herself. She feels her family doesn’t love her and that she isn’t the daughter they had hoped for. She becomes insecure and when someone reaches out to her online she falls and falls hard for this boy. She decides to finally meet him after a few months of talking online. When they meet up she realizes he isn’t the 18 year old, blonde hair blued eyed boy her portrayed himslef as but rather a 45 year old mad with a plan to rape and murder her.
Rising Actions-
o She learns about how Innocence works and how she can solve her murder. Through the administration on Innocence.
o After many failed attempts at planting evidence she gets in trouble and is sent to “impeachment” (like a high school In School Suspension). While in impeachment she decides to talk to another girl, Ivy, who is also there with her. She ends up being another girl murdered by the same man. Ivy tells her there is another girl who has been murdered by them- 3 girls become friends
o The girls work together on solving their murders for the police
§ Struggles with planting evidence and finding the right time to be on Earth
o Starts spending a lot of time reflecting on herself and trying to find answers to her “problems.” Tailynn successfully plants enough evidence about her murder and is able to get her murderer to be arrested by the police. The police think they have a solid case and that he will be convicted in no time.
Climax- As Tailynn’s trial starts to get closer then the girls realize she will be leaving them soon. Tailynn realizes that she has finally found true friends and the prospect of her leaving Innocence and going to Heaven makes her realize that she doesn’t want to go. The girls unite to stall the murder trial so that the police can connect all the murders together and the man can be tried as a serial killer. They place two earrings, one from each girl, in the pocket of the pants that the police have in evidence. When the prosecutor goes to look at the evidence one more time while planning his case, he finds the earrings and connects the murders using the girls DNA found on the earrings.
Falling Action- The murder trial begins and the girls bond while watching the trial. At the end of the trial Tailynn’s mom talks about how much she loved her daughter and how important she was and still is to her. Tailynn realizes that she wasn’t as much of a screw up as she thought.
Resolution- The murderer is found guilty and the girls get to leave Innocence. As they load their things onto the world switching machine (elevator like) Tailynn realizes that although she was murdered her life after life in Innocence didn’t turn out that bad. She has friends and a family that she knows loves her and she will be able to be with someday in the future. Movie ends will the girls getting into the elevator together, holding hands and smiling. A man in a black suit tells them the elevator will go as soon as they command it to. Tailynn says on the count of three we say go. She counts down and the movie closes with the door closing and the three girls saying “go.”
